So...remember the time I blogged about meeting N'dambi? Let me tell ya a lil somethin' about this chick-- On her kick-ass new album Pink Elephant--available October 6, 2009-- N'dambi ingeniously distills soul-deep inspiration into a sensual style of elegance and power, making her a fundamental new addition to the Stax Records legacy. Pink Elephant was recorded in Santa Monica, CA with producer Leon Sylvers III, whose credits include Shalamar, Gladys Night, The Whispers, Blackstreet, Lakeside, and many more. N'dambi insisted the record have a modern sheen yet adhere to the sturdy influence of classic R&B and soul artists like Slave, Heatwave, Michael Jackson, Betty Davis, Isaac Hayes, Smokey Robinson, and The Sylvers. She likes to curse and says Fuck on this new album. A lot. Needless to say, I RECOMMEND. To pre-order this album, click here!
Last Friday, I attended a Universal Music Group artist meeting. The artist featured was N'dambi, promoting the release of her new album Pink Elephant through Stax Records. Not only did she kick ass, but she also had the sweetest 'fro I've ever seen. I took tons of pictures (check out my photo blog to see them!). And --thank you, karma-- my decision to stay 3 hours late to finish mailings was rewarded when I walked off the 4th floor elevator and ran into Nelly Furtado! (...picture above...) I also got to talk to N'dambi for a while--and yes, as you can see, I DID touch the 'fro. WHAT A GREAT DAY.
